The Independent's executive editor of features Adam Leigh is set to become deputy editor of the paper, should the sale to Russian businessman Alexander Lebedev go ahead, The Guardian reports.
Leigh has been overseeing the features operation since 2003 and also assists with production of the news coverage. Having worked at The Independent and The Independent on Sunday for 15 years, he has recently been planning a redesign for the paper.

Outspoken columnist Rod Liddle is tipped to become the editor if Lebedev buys the newspaper. No announcements have been made as to the future for current editor Roger Alton or deputy editor Ian Birrell.
The sale is not confirmed yet, although exclusive talks are progressing. The news of Liddle's proposed appointment was met with a hostile reaction from some Independent readers and journalists. The Facebook group established in protest now has over 3,400 members.
Lebedev also owns freesheet the Evening Standard, which he purchased last year.
