Traian Basescu on Thursday resumed attacks against businessmen Sorin Ovidiu Vantu, Dan Voiculescu and Dinu Patriciu, whom he called “sharks,” and said in context that “during my 12-year long service at sea I have learnt to break the teeth of the sharks too.”
Traian Basescu on Thursday, while attending the meeting of the Steering College of the Democratic Liberal Party (PD-L), criticized the absence of Klaus Johannis from the talks about the programme of the Government he was to head if Mircea Geoana won the presidential election, in keeping with the political agreement concluded on Wednesday between the Social Democratic Party (P SD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL).
“We are talking about a Prime Minister [Klaus Johannis], who is equally absent when filling this position as Mircea Geoana might be if he came to be President. This gathering of sharks, Voiculescu, Vantu, Patriciu, found the suitable people whom they should handle for the two positions, both for the one of Romania’s President and for the one of Prime Minister,” said Basescu.
The Head of State added he did not want to blame Klaus Johannis “as he does not know what he gathering he joined,” in exchange his counter-candidate for the presidential election Mircea Geoana “knows perfectly that he is controlled and subordinated to these sharks – Voiculescu, Patriciu, Vantu.” The Head of State also criticized the presence of some Liberal and Social Democrat leaders at the headquarters of the companies run by the above-mentioned businessmen in order to negotiate for the governing programme of the PSD-PNL alliance.
